Well here is my personal experience with Primerica which happen a couple of years ago. If you never heard of them they basically sell financial products to help you with your finances and become debit free. The agent calls me for a job interview from my resume I posted on monster.com a about a couple of years ago. I actually forgot that I posted it up there. He said that he saw my resume and I had the skills and knowledge to work for his great company. I ask him great, what part of the IT Department am I being interview for, he said none. But that I should still come down for the interview as I will be interested in the job his offering me. So I decided to give it a try, at the time I was unemployed.
I went down to the job interview. He basically told me what the company was about and what great potential I had working for the company and at the same time I could start my own insurance business. I asked him a couple of questions about the insurance I was selling and he gave me vague answers to them all. He then took me step by step on how the company actually worked and how much money I was going to make. He then tries to sell me the insurance and sign me up to become an independent agent. I told the agent I would have to think about it since at the moment I was unemployed and would need to borrow money to cover the cost of it. So when I went home, I decided to do research myself and I actually called another agent from out-of-state and ask him the same questions I had ask the agent I met with. Some of his answers were conflicting with the vague answers the agent I met with had giving me.
So I decided to go online and do more research and even check with the BBB to see if any complaints had been file against the company. BBB in Nevada gives them a rating of “NR” which basically means “No Rating”. At the end I decided not to sign-up with the agent that contacted me because the agent was actually looking out for himself instead of me. If I had the money to cover my expenses at the time I would of actually gone with the out-of-state agent who answered my questions correctly. Only thing I regret right now is not keeping the name and phone number of the out-of-state agent so I could get in contact with him. All I remember is the state and area code of the agent.
